Hyderabad to Promote Medical Tourism

The Telangana government is planning to form a medical society which would act as point of contact between international patients and healthcare providers in the state.

While Telangana health department would  monitor the treatment provided and bills charged, tourism department would look at ease of travel and other aspects for the patients, said B Venkatesham, secretary, tourism and culture department. At the inauguration of third edition of International India Medical Tourism Congress (IIMTC)-2016, held here on Saturday, he said it would take around a month for the society to be formed.

The congress was supported by Telangana tourism and culture department.Stating that one of the intention of forming the Medical Society is to promote Hyderabad as a hub for medical tourism, he said patients from Latin America, European and SAARC nations visit India for treatment since the costs are 60 to 90 per-cent low.
